Waakye with Coconut Milk


  • 4 cups of Brown rice
  • 3 cups of red beans
  • 3 millet stalks
  • 500mls – 750mls Coconut milk


  1. Wash and soak the beans overnight to reduce the cooking time.
  2. Boil the beans in a large saucepan with enough water.
  3. Wash the millet stalks quickly and add to the boiling beans.
  4. Wash the brown rice, drain all the water and remove the millet stalks before adding the rice to the beans when soft.
  5. Instead of adding water, add your coconut milk and allow to cook until the rice is soft.
  6. Serve with tomato sauce, shito and fresh fruits.
